Your scalp is oily by lunch. Why this new Japanese cleanser starts warm

28 Aug 2026 · 3 min read

You wash your hair before leaving home. By lunchtime, the roots are flat again and your scalp feels oily.

It can happen even after a thorough morning shampoo. Perspiration can spread scalp oil along the hair shafts, which makes the roots feel greasier. Humidity has also been linked with increased oil production, although the reason is not fully understood.

Start with what is already in your bathroom

Oil is only part of that midday feeling. Sweat, dead skin and styling products can sit on the scalp. Hair left damp after a shower may also smell stale sooner.

Try this before adding another bottle: rinse well, dry the roots and skip heavy wax or pomade near the scalp for a few days. If the midday grease improves, you may not need a separate cleanser.

A stronger shampoo may miss the problem

A harsh shampoo can leave your scalp irritated without explaining why it felt oily. A pre-shampoo cleanser has a narrower job. It is used occasionally to lift sebum and product residue before your normal wash.

This is cosmetic care. White or yellow flakes, persistent itch, redness, pain, bleeding or discharge need a different next step. Ask a pharmacist about dandruff care, or see a doctor if the symptoms are severe, keep returning or do not improve.

Why does the new Japanese cleanser feel warm?

La Casta released Aroma Revita Warming Scalp Cleanse in Japan on 26 August. The 120 mL gel costs ¥3,300 on the maker's Japanese store.

You apply it directly to a dry scalp, massage it in, rinse, then use your usual shampoo. La Casta recommends using it twice a week. The company says the warming gel loosens excess sebum and styling residue while protecting the moisture the scalp needs.

The warmth does not prove the gel improves circulation. The maker specifically warns that its heat-camera images should not be read as evidence of changes to blood flow or the body.

Singapore already has oily-scalp products

Watsons lists RYO Deep Cleansing & Cooling Shampoo for Oily Scalp at S$17.50 for 480 mL. KrisShop also lists an older La Casta Scalp Cleansing Refine, although it was temporarily out of stock when we checked.

If you only want a cleanser for oily roots, a local product is easier and may cost less after shipping. The new La Casta gel is different because it goes onto a dry scalp before shampooing and feels warm. A local option is still the simpler starting point.

When should you skip it?

Do not apply it to broken, swollen or irritated skin. Stop if you develop redness, itching or pain. The maker's directions also say to rinse immediately if it gets into your eyes.

If your concern is mainly flakes, severe itch, soreness or a smell that keeps returning, another cosmetic cleanser could delay the care you need. Start with a pharmacist, GP or dermatologist instead.

Check locally before sending a proxy request

We did not find an official Singapore listing for this exact warming cleanser when we checked on 28 August. That does not prove no Singapore reseller has it.

Bazu Mart does not currently stock it. If you specifically want the new La Casta format, send us the official Japanese product link on TG: @bazumart. We will check the maker's current stock and quote the full proxy cost before you decide. If a local oily-scalp product already does the job, keep using it.
