Pompompurin's 30th anniversary drop is live in Japan

You spot a new Pompompurin keyholder on a resale app. The seller is using Sanrio's photos, says the Japan release is hard to get and leaves out the original price.

Pause there. Sanrio released two separate Pompompurin collections in Japan on 27 August. The pieces look related, but their prices and buying rules are different.

Find the Japanese retail price first

Singapore collectors have seen how quickly character goods can pick up a resale markup. During KFC's Mofusand launch here, a keychain that cost S$12.95 with a qualifying meal appeared on Carousell for as much as S$50 by 4pm. The Straits Times found roughly 70 listings, including a S$40 preorder for designs that had not been released.

That was a different campaign. It does not prove these Pompompurin pieces will sell out or jump in price. It does show why the original Japanese price should be your starting point.

Two lines landed on the same day

The first is Sanrio's Those Days Pompompurin collection. Its 16 pieces borrow the soft, round look of his first plush. The Pompompurin plush M is ¥3,696, the plush S is ¥2,970, the mascot holder is ¥2,200 and the Muffin plush is ¥2,695.

Those are Sanrio's tax-inclusive Japanese retail prices. Proxy fees, delivery inside Japan and shipping to Singapore come later.

The second line belongs to the Pompompurin 30th Anniversary Shop, running at 37 Sanrio locations in Japan from 27 August to 13 September. Sanrio also lists the limited pieces through its Japanese online shop.

The anniversary range includes an eight-design secret Pompompurin keyholder at ¥946, an eight-design secret drawstring pouch and mini tote bag at ¥748, and a sticker set at ¥693. Here, secret means random. You cannot request one exact outfit unless the shop explicitly sells a complete set.

Japan's online shop skips the in-store priority rule

Sanrio used its Japan-only Sanrio+ membership service to give eligible members first-day priority when shopping in person. That rule does not apply to Sanrio's Japanese online shop.

Online purchase limits still apply. For the Those Days line, Sanrio published a limit of two per item or character, with up to eight secret mascot pockets, from 27 August to 2 September. The Anniversary Shop listing allows up to eight of each secret item and two sticker sets online. Sanrio says limits and selling methods can change.

Eight random pieces do not automatically give you eight different designs. Only treat an order as a complete set when the product page says it is one.

Treat the novelty as a bonus

Sanrio's domestic online shops list one puffy Pompompurin memo pad with an eligible purchase of at least ¥4,400, while supplies last. Sanrio excludes its Direct from Japan international shop from this offer.

A domestic proxy order may meet the spending condition, but the novelty is not secured until an eligible order is completed and stock remains. Do not pay more on the assumption that it will be inside the parcel.

Choose a basket that earns its shipping

Start with the exact item. Send the official link, product number or a screenshot that shows its name. A plush, several pieces from the same launch or a consolidated order can make sense.

One ¥693 sticker set on its own probably will not. Delivery inside Japan, proxy fees and international shipping can cost more than the item.

Compare the full delivered quote with a local offer. If the exact piece is already in Singapore at a sensible total price, buying locally is easier.
